Dive into the D600
Taking the deep dive into the D600 or not ?
As most of you will know I have been shooting with a D200 and was eagerly awaiting the new D400 in the year I turned fourdotzero …
But Nikon decided otherwise …
No D400 yet, and a full frame released called D600 on Photokina which was one of the best kept rumours. Some of you told me at midsummer on the fourdotzero party I should wait for this full frame and have a look at it.
Which I did (thanks Gert)
So, what is in the package ?!?
The very first consumer FX body of Nikon, and what a package it is …
If you are what Ken calls a measurbator don’t read on, as this is not about the numbers, but about the gut feelings …
My View
My view is not about comparing the D800 with the D600, or the latest Canon body (which is for sure great) with Nikon, my view is all about upgrading your piece from a Dxxx to a D600.
I purchased a D50, got tricked in a D200 and enjoyed shooting the last 4 (or 5) years with it …
Now, how does it feel to upgrade ?
The reviews …
Well, do read on all the reviews out-there, including DP Review which is the best side to get the full picture, and Kens view if you are willing to jump ship …
Just type D600 in Google if you want the full picture, but most of them never get any further as DP and Ken …
So .. the points of the Jury ?
Well, if you have a D200 and have been waiting like me, I would jump (and I don’t have a glass bowl) as I still like my jump …
Some good stuff …
The Body. It is not too small. I was really afraid going from the D200 the body would feel to small, but hey, I already completely forgot it is a few mm smaller at each side. If you have a D200 … the body size is not what you should worry about.
The Silly Slider. Well, we got some consumer stuff in the left slider at the top. Read Kens review if you are like me wondering about this one. I actually switched more between P/S/M in the last day then I ever played on my D200 with it … (but the ISO button sucks …)
All the other stuff …
I luv the flash in commandar mode to no longer fire. I no longer need my SG-3IR
I luv the FX …
I luv the Focus Points (whatever the dudes say)
I luv … the viewfinder …
I luv the LCD at the back (even the live view of pictures when laying on the ground shooting Lego), I luv the …
I luv the liveview for my street ME2 shots
This body is a serious upgrade if you come from something like a D200 like me, and I like every moment of the ride …
Some bad stuff
These are things I don’t like … (yet)
No ISO indication at the top LCD. Well, I was so used to check it there …
The ISO and Quality button … aaargh. I keep on changing the quality level from RAW+JPEG/Fine to something else because the ISO button is at the back and I select the wrong one …
I am sure I can change it but it is a very dangerous thing to have it there …
No Lightroom integration yet (Nikon and Adobe, you fail here epic)
And some stuff to come in the days to come …
For now, I ignored the signs and took the deep dive … into Nikon D600
A year without a post …
Most interesting.
One year has gone by since I made an update here.
Did I gave up on cyberspace ?
No more pictures for this trooper ?
Or just to busy with all things work ?
None of the above (except maybe the being busy at work), I have been busy in cyberspace, working on a little bricked project called Me2 which took me rather single minded deep into one subject but was and continues to be a great experience and roller coaster in all things plastic.
The project is well on its way and time has come to dig again in some other personal projects involving pictures from the Stockholm Archipelago on RedBubble (100% plastic free), exploring the adobe cloud in detail (yeah, yours truly signed up) and just get some personal Google+ rolling again to explore the cloud at its fullest …
From SAP, Workday and all the other HCM related startups like Facebook and that relational database company dating back to ancient greeks to all things RAW from PSCS6 over D200 to some new digital video experiments with GoPro spiced up with complete randomness …

Web 3.0 is death
“The following discussion is an archived debate of the second deletion of the Web 3.0.
Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the article’s talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this page.”
I guess we will have to stick with 2.0 for a while longer … twice in a row must have a meaning afterall.
Disqus ?!?
Playing with sweetcron has got me going in social tools, cross platform sharing and other interactivity stuff like twitter and I just gave the disqus option a go … Not that I plan to have so many comments or followers here (i just liked the logo) … but the very open and allowíng everything Blogger Commenting did not trigger much feedback anyways … Ohhh, and on a completly different side note, Google did it again, a must see 🙂

A little war is running in the social network world now that Facebook has released its new TOS. I must admit I normally just click away and asume the common do not evil google approach when using social and other networking tools … seems I should consider reading the fineprint a little bit better.
Here is a wonderfull post on the topic.
A must read.
SweetCron
Looking a little further around on the web, I think I finally bumped into my new software to play with …
It listens to the name of SweetCron and … it looks pretty cool.
Now I need to convince the guys at tera-byte to upgrade my PHP and MySQL out of the Stone Age … so I can get this one running …
Stay Tuned !
